Junk Furniture Removal
Getting new furniture can be a bittersweet experience. On the one hand you have new furniture that you are excited to have in your home or office. On the other hand you've got to deal with the old furniture. You've got to figure out how to dispose of it. It may need to be taken apart and moved piece by piece and bring it to the curb for municipal pick up, or you can fight with it whole to get it there. Either way you'll be doing the heavy lifting. If it even can be taken to the curb, which depends on the items, it's not going to be with the normal weekly pick up. Instead you'll have to deal with the whims of the local schedule and likely book ahead of time.
Besides curbing something, there are other ways to dispose of furniture you don't want anymore. One way is to sell the old furniture. The classic, tried and true method to sell old furniture is to run a yard sale. You put arrange all the old furniture in the yard on a weekend morning or afternoon and hope that people come by who both want it and are able to take it. A more updated variation of this approach is to sell the items through an online marketplace. This has the advantage of not taking up your time to do, once images of the items are posted. The only time investment involved is speaking with potential buyers and arranging pick and payment. No matter how you plan to sell the furniture, don't expect to get rich or turn a profit. Most items are not worth the same amount you paid for them, isolated instances of luck aside.
Another alternative method to putting furniture out to be thrown away, is to donate it. If it's more important to you that the furniture is used and appreciated by someone who needs it rather than rotting in a landfill or being sold to whoever can afford it, donating the furniture may be a good option. There are many many organizations to which you can donate furniture. There are limitations to what they can take, One obvious limitation is the condition of the furniture. Furniture that is too stained, worn or otherwise damaged is not suitable to be donated. There are also kinds of furniture that cannot be donated because of the kind of piece that they are. Mattresses fall into this category, because they are difficult to clean, nearly impossible to clean thoroughly, and consequently run the risk of transmitting bedbugs. Some items might be too bulky and unwieldy to donate, though if you are motivated enough you should be able to find an organization that is able to take it.
Furniture can also be given a second life by being used for a different, new purpose. IF you want to hold onto the old piece even though you've got something new to put in its place you could find a new use for it rather than throwing it away. This is a good option if you are a crafty or handy person. Old wooded pieces can be transformed into just about whatever you can think up. Couches can become chairs, chairs footstools, tables desks, desks bookshelves, you are only limited by your creativity here.
